    Volleyball Camp Offers Great Opportunities for Abaco Players

    The 2nd Annual Jackie Conyers & Renardo Curry’s Back to Basics Abaco Volleyball Camp was held on Dec. 5. Facilitating the camp was Devinc Smith, national volleyball team coach, and Jackie Conyers, coordinator of Jackie Conyers Volleyball Camp.

    Jackie Conyers Volleyball Camp Brought to Abaco

    With the desire to spark more interest and to develop young people in the sport, North Abaco Member of Parliament, Renardo Curry, brought the Jackie Conyers Volleyball Camp to Abaco with a two day training camp on December 5 and 6.

    Abaco Church Sports Association’s volleyball season starts

    The Zion Cathedral’s Court was alive with excitement during the evening of October 12. It was the official start of the Abaco Church Sports Association’s volleyball season. That evening, Change Ministries’ men’s and women’s teams won over Cooper’s Town’s Wisdom Training Center (WTC).

    Church league ends basketball season, plans to start volleyball season

    According to Abaco Church Sports Association President Everette Strachan, the idea for a church league for young people developed out of a Round Robin Basketball Tournament for men that was held in May 2013. Although Pastor Stephen Knowles of Strong Tower Community Church was first appointed vice president because of his great responsibility as the president of the Abaco Christian Council, the role was then shared between Cubell Davis Jr. and Ishmael “Stretch” Morley, who also serves as the public relations officer. Gilbert Davis in charge of the league’s referees, Davis Jr. is also the treasurer, and Karen Rolle is the secretary.
