The East Abaco Methodist Region of the Bahamas Conference of The Methodist Church hosted a Sunday School Teachers' Appreciation Service at St. Andrews Methodist Church in Dundas Town on June 1. Fourteen teachers from the churches of St Andrews, Dundas Town, St James, Hope Town and Epworth Chapel in Cherokee Sound were honoured for their years of service.
The St. James Methodist Church in Hope Town has an interesting history which encompasses many struggles. The current building is the fourth on the site. The first St. James Chapel was built in 1820 and served as the Sunday Chapel as well as a ‘Sabbath Day Methodist School’ where reading and writing were taught.
