St. John the Baptist (SJB) Anglican Church A.C.W. held its Annual Monica Adderley Fun Run/Walk on Oct. 18 at the church grounds. The walk is held to raise awareness for the fight against cancer, and is named after its patron – Monica Adderley – a nine -year cancer survivor.
On the morning of American Thanksgiving, Friends of the Environment held the ﬁrst annual Turtle Trot sponsored by the Hope Town Lodge in Hope Town, Abaco. The event featured a 5 K run/walk from the Lodge to the north end of Elbow Cay and a one mile fun run for children under 12. The majority of students from Hope Town Primary participated in the mile run, along with a number of visitor’s children.
In honour of Monica Adderley, who is a seven-year cancer survivor, members of the Abaco community participated in the 3rd Annual Monica Adderley Fun Run/Walk event on November 3.
The 2nd Annual Christian Counselling Center (CCC) Walk was held at 7 a.m. on November 10 at the BAIC Park. Participants were greeted by members from the center to register for the 5K or 10K walk/run event, and they received free T-shirts. Following a prayer by Anthony Swain, runners were asked to take their places at the front of the line while those who opted to walk brought up the rear. The route took them to the Shervin Archer Circle (airport roundabout) and back around to the BAIC Park.
