Round Two of the RC Laser Tour of Abaco returned to Snappas Bar & Grill in Marsh Harbour. It was a beautiful day after the recent cold snap and a rainy week. Winds were out of the south at about 15 mph, but were off shore, so racers had calm waters and were protected from the heavier gusts.
The first round of the 2014 RC Laser Tour of Abaco began the last Saturday of 2013. We were all invited for lunch at the recently opened Blackfly Lodge at Schooner Bay. The first battle of the day was to keep our lunch from blowing away. We all had burgers or wraps at the restaurant, all reasonably priced and open to the public. It is worth the drive and a nice afternoon outing to visit Schooner Bay.
The turnout was on the light side for the fourth round of the RC Laser Tour of Abaco on March 23. But the regular group was glad to welcome two new sailors, Peter Whittington and Matt Polishuk, who brought the fleet up to 7 boats. Winds gusts were approaching 20 mph out of the south and the sailors agreed they should have worn sunscreen. Winds were very shifty as the groups sailed right in the middle of two opposing winds, from the left and the right.
Beautiful January weather was on tap for the first round of the RC Laser Tour of Abaco. Winds were unfortunately very light and out of an unfavorable location for this venue. However, there was a good turnout with two first timers: Cameron Sands and Thomas Key.
