Many residents assembled at the S.C. Bootle Ball Park in Cooper’s Town. Some traveled from as far as Sandy Point and the surrounding Cays and took the opportunity to speak with the North Abaco Member of Parliament, Renardo Curry.
All candidates for the North Abaco District and Central/South Abaco district have now been ratified for the three major parties: Progressive Liberal Party, Free National Movement and the Democratic National Alliance.
Alfred M. Sears, Queens Counsel, PLP Candidate for Fort Charlotte, accompanied by his wife Marion, took his “listening tour” to Abaco this weekend and the visit was a resounding success.
Renardo Curry, current Member of Parliament for North Abaco, was ratified by the Progressive Liberal Party as the candidate for the North Abaco Constituency once again. His ratification was confirmed Thursday, September 22.

On August 7 police officers entered the House of Parliament to remove Free National Movement (FNM) leader Dr. Hubert Minnis. This was in response to Dr. Minnis’ refusal to withdraw comments he made last month regarding the Prime Minister. As the officers came to remove Minnis, he and seven FNM Members of Parliament left the Chamber in solidarity. The only FNM MP to remain was Central & South Abaco MP Edison Key.
Renardo Curry, the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) candidate for North Abaco, held a ‘meet and greet’ at Treasure Cay Public Beach on Saturday, September 8, where guests were able to enjoy an evening of music, food and drink while meeting some members of parliament including the Deputy Prime Minister, Philip ‘Brave’ Davis. The Deputy Prime Minister told eager party-goers that “the government belongs to you because the PLP believes in you”, and to “vote with the same enthusiasm and energy you are showing tonight for Renardo Curry.”
Armed with encouragement and boxes of school supplies, Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) candidate Renardo Curry embarked on a long bus ride starting at the ball field at Abaco Central High School and ending in Crown Haven on Saturday, September 8. “It was very fulfilling for me to see the smiles on the kid’s faces,” Mr. Curry said.
Undeterred from the results of the General Election in May, Renardo Curry – the candidate for North Abaco for the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP), has focused his time on assisting the government in attracting investors to the North Abaco area while waiting for the upcoming bye-election. “The greatest need right now is jobs,” Mr. Curry noted. “I have been actively pursuing investors, as that is one of the quickest ways we can provide jobs for our people and presently I have some good leads.”
