On Saturday, Jan 25 Pete Johnston, proprietor of Pete’s Pub, held his “20th Annual 50th Birthday Party”. Pete’s Pub is tucked away in Little Harbour, and is one of Abaco’s best kept secrets.
Variety was the evident at the Cancer Society Art Show held on December 21 at Pete’s Pub in Little Harbour. Artists came by the dozen to support the local organization that depends on the support of the community to help cancer patients with their expenses. Tents were set up in the parking lot and on the upstairs deck to shelter the numerous artists who arrived early on that Saturday morning to put their creations on display.
The Christmas Art Show in Little Harbour is helping to raise money for transportation assistance to Abaconians who must travel for treatment of cancer.
The third Kayak Challenge, a fund raising event for the Abaco Cancer Society and Friends of the Environment, was a great financial success with double the business sponsorship over last year. Helen Jacobs was the lucky winner (considering every raffle ticket had been sold) of the grand raffle prize, a Hobe kayak donated by Lightbourn Marine.
Five artisans drew the crowds at the Little Harbour Art and Craft show held at Pete’s Pub and Gallery on May 18. A steady stream of customers all day kept them busy and ensured them a very successful day. All of the stall holders were very pleased at the amount of business from locals, second home owners and visitors to the island. Many people stayed to enjoy one of the delicious lunches served at Pete’s Pub and to spend the day socializing with friends. The atmosphere was very festive thanks to the lively music of ‘Fire and the Goat Peppers Band’.
The second annual Kayak Challenge, which was held on November 3 and started at Pete’s Pub in Little Harbour, was a very successful event bringing together a large group of people in support of the Abaco Cancer Society and Friends of the Environment (FRIENDS). A total of 44 kayakers and 17 paddle borders entered to paddle for this very worthy cause. In addition to the entry fee each person was asked to raise at least $100 in sponsorship and all proceeds were split between the Abaco Cancer Society and Friends of the Environment.
