George “Barefoot Man” Nowak made his second appearance in Abaco for the year. The popular performer conducted his Summer concert at Nippers on Guana Cay during July 19 -20. This particular concert was considered by many attending to be one of the more fun and relaxed of the more than decade long series. “Chantal” a possible Tropical Storm that threatened around the time of the concern, but ended up fizzling out, drove away some boaters. But those that remained for the concert thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Seventeen year old Charles Carey III is a talented young musician looking ahead to a career in music. He felt music running through his blood at a very early age and began drumming at the age of five years with the help of his father, Reverend Charles Carey, Principal of Wesley College, who is also a talented musician.
Popular gospel music and the old, familiar notes of church hymns rang out from the instruments of St. Ambrose Community Band members during their tour of Abaco in mid-July. The members visited the island from July 13-15, and stopped in two North Abaco communities before ending their tour in Central Abaco at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church. It was an ideal location for the band’s demonstration as they received full support from church members and attracted the attention of passing motorists.
