After more than a year-long delay, officials are eying the end of April for the opening of the Marsh Harbour International Airport, Minister of Transport and Aviation Glenys Hanna-Martin said on March 17.
Minister of Transport and Aviation, Glenys Hanna-Martin, said that they are deploying a technical officer to stabilize the port in Marsh Harbour after receiving reports of the poor conditions at both the domestic and international sides.
As part of The Bahamas’ 40th Independence Celebrations, Retired Defence Force Chief Petty Officer Peterson D. James, was honoured as one of the survivors of the HMBS Flamingo vessel on May 10, 1980. Mr. James received a commemorative set of stamps depicting the crewmembers of the ill-fated voyage from the Hon. Glenys Hanna Martin, Minister of Transport and Aviation, in New Providence in July.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Works, Philip ‘Brave’ Davis, signed several capital works contracts on May 27 for projects to be done at Marsh Harbour International Airport as well as a pre-school to be built in Fox Town. He noted also that the new airport terminal is projected to open in August this year.
