April 30 was a proud and exciting day for The Friends of the Environment as they welcomed guests to the opening celebration of The Frank Kenyon Research Centre. Approximately 100 people attended the opening including students, scientists, donors, partners and government officials.
The grand opening of Friends of the Environment’s Frank Kenyon Centre for Research, Education and Conservation will take place on April 30. As construction continues, the anticipation mounts as FRIENDS staff members look forward to this great milestone and the positive and lasting contributions the Centre will bring to Abaco.
Friends of the Environment received a generous donation from members of the Royal Marsh Harbour Yacht Club on March 24 to assist with their Mermaid Reef Sign Project.
Friends of the Environment is pleased to announce that their new Research Centre will be named after one of the organization’s 1988 founders, Frank Kenyon. Frank has put his heart and soul, in an unassuming way, into the development and protection of Abaco ever since he arrived here in the 1950s. Through an aggressive fund raising campaign by Frank’s friends and family members, the construction of the building is well underway and has warranted the name “The Frank Kenyon Centre for Research, Education and Conservation”.
