With the third season for adult Flag Football just weeks away the Abaco Flag Football League (AFFL) is poised and ready to build on the success and excitement of the previous years.
On Saturday, April 9 Man-O-War hosted a double header at the ball field on the Cay facing off against the Dragons and the Hope Town Superstarz in Flag Football action.
The Abaco Flag Football League’s second season is well underway and the competition, much like the weather, is heating up.
The Abaco Youth Football Association’s Youth flag football season culminated on Saturday January 30 with play-offs taking place in Murphy Town by the baseball field, starting at 9 am on January 30, setting the stage for the afternoon’s championship games.
The fledgling Abaco Flag Football League (AFFL) capped a successful inaugural season with a three day single-elimination playoff race for the Abaco Cup Championship games from June 5-7 and when the dust settled the Dragons and Panthers emerged victorious.
The flag football championship game was held at the Murphy Town Park on February 7. The Green Turtle Cay and Marsh Harbour teams gathered on the field to face each other. A large crowd of supporters had assembled to watch the three games making up the finals. The games were televised live by Cable’s NB12.
In a fierce weekend of flag football competition the Hope Town Bull Sharks put up a great fight but in the end the Marsh Harbour Wildhawgs prevailed, sweeping all three age divisions on November 22 at New Vision Ministries field in Marsh Harbour.
After sweeping the Man O War Makos during the first flag football meet of the season in New Plymouth, the Green Turtle Cay Falcons played against the Makos on their turf on October 18. The Falcons walked away with a similar result, winning five out of six games losing only the second senior game.
After much anticipation and several scrimmage games the Abaco Youth Football Association (AYFA) opened the flag football season with a jamboree at New Vision Ministries Sports Field on Saturday, November 9.
The Green Turtle Cay Crusaders succeeded in capturing the win in both junior and senior youth flag football scrimmage games in Green Turtle Cay on October 5 on a day that was dedicated to raise funds for upcoming surgery for Percival “Junior” Roberts.
