Excellent fishing highlighted this year’s Bahamas Billfish Championship. The boats participating in the four leg series released a total of 105 billfish – 51 blue marlin, 34 white marlin and 20 sailfish. Of those releases the 2016 Championship winner, team ‘Uno Mas,’ released eleven blues, four whites and three sailfish.
The Custom Shootout Fishing Tournament, held at the Abaco Beach Resort and Boat Harbour annually and organized by Captain Skip Smith, made a donation to two local charities in Abaco on June 11.
The Marsh Harbour Championship, leg 3 of the 2016 Bahamas Billfish Championship, was held last week at Abaco Beach Resort. Leg 2 winner, team ‘Uno Mas,’ put another BBC tournament in the win column.
The 46th Annual Abaco Anglers Fishing Tournament was held April 21-30 with the awards dinner and celebration at Hope Town Inn and Marina. This was the first year the Tournament was under the organization of Ashley Knowles.
The Guana Cay leg of the 2016 Bahamas Billfish Championship went off without a hitch last week, concluding with an exciting awards dinner at Sunsetters restaurant at Orchid Bay Marina where ‘Bamboo,’ owned by Bill Canida, took top honors. ‘Wave Paver’ (owned by Jr. Davis and captained by Russell Sinclair) and ‘Sandrita’ (owned by Kevin Fish and captained by Kyle Sherman) took second and third place, respectively.
MP Meets with Little Abaco Community; Discusses Chinese Wages, Gov’t Services and Alleged Victimization of Fishermen
At the end of November, Member of Parliament for North Abaco, Renardo Curry, met with constituents in the Little Abaco area to speak with them and hear their concerns.
It feels that there are people influencing policy that are either intentionally destroying the economy or are, in fact, too stupid to be held accountable for their missteps. I am not sure which option is sadder. I know that whichever it is, though, is indeed baffling.
The 2015 Bahamas Billfish Championship (BBC) concluded this year with the Boat Harbour Championship Leg in Marsh Harbour. The tournament’s overall champion was Jr. Davis with the boat ‘Wave Paver.’ The Marsh Harbour leg ran from June 10-13. The BBC started late April with the Guana Cay Championship.
