After a few months of recess during summer, the Market Place vendors returned to Treasure Cay.
Most of the Abaco artist community responded to the invitation extended by Schooner Bay to participate in its Arts and Crafts Festival, as over forty vendors gathered on the porch of the Black Fly Lodge and the lawn surrounding the harbour during the afternoon of April 25 to exhibit their creations.
Agape Christian School held their fourth Art Explosion at Grace Gym on November 14 and 15 showcasing a wide variety of arts and crafts from artisans across the island as well as highlighting the works of students in the school.
The Hope Town Harbour Lodge held its fourteenth annual Arts and Crafts Festival on November 29. This has become a well-loved tradition for both locals and visitors to gather on the day following Thanksgiving to enjoy an excellent and varied display of arts and crafts and also to socialize with friends over a glass of wine and some hors d'oeuvres.
Leo Bethel, since retiring from his full time job three years ago, has discovered that he has quite a talent for 'crafting.' His wife, Renee, who still works full time as a secretary / art teacher at Agape Christian School, and who shares his love of crafting, says that she has always been naturally artistic.
