The Abaco Youth Football Association’s Youth flag football season culminated on Saturday January 30 with play-offs taking place in Murphy Town by the baseball field, starting at 9 am on January 30, setting the stage for the afternoon’s championship games.
The fourth Agape Christian School’s Tip-Off Basketball Tournament is scheduled to take place during the weekend of October 24-26. Teams from Harbour Island, CC Sweeting, Anatole Rogers, Noble Preparatory Academy, Abaco Central High School and SC Bootle High School have confirmed their participation. Games will be held in two categories, Junior and Senior.
Five young judo fighters from Abaco Judo Club joined seven colleagues from Nassau and defeated many of the world’s finest players, including champions from Brazil, America, the Dominican Republic and Republic of South Africa to win Bronze, Silver, one 4th and one 5th place at the US Junior Open Championships in Fort Lauderdale on July 28th.
Last month, the Creter’s Bulldogs represented Abaco in the Men’s National Softball Championships held in New Providence. However, none of the Abaco women’s teams were represented this year.
The Abaco Swim Club (ASC) fared well at the Royal Bank of Canada National Championship in Nassau from June 14 – 17 bringing home 25 medals (12 silver and 13 bronze) from the competition. Eight-year-old Roman Pinder impressed earning runner up for the High-Point Trophy for eight and under Boys, the first swimmer for ASC to be awarded this trophy.
