Abaco once again brings home a well-earned Cacique Duho in the category of Special Events at the Ministry of Tourism and the Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association’s 2017 Cacique Awards held at Baha Mar on April 8.
The Abaco Tourist Office is happy to announce that two (2) of the three (3) finalists from Abaco, were successful in capturing the prestigious Cacique Award, at the 16th Cacique Awards held on Saturday, January 24th at the Melia Resort, Nassau Bahamas. Albury’s Ferry captured the Transportation Award and Cherokee Aviation the Local Airlines and Tour Operators Award, not successful was Candace Key who was a finalist for Sustainable Tourism.
The Abaco Tourist Office is very pleased to announce a total of 11 nominees for the 16th Cacique Awards, to be held on Saturday, 24th January, 2015, at the Melia Nassau Resort, Cable Beach, Nassau.
Two Abaconians, nominated for the 2012 Cacique Award, have remained on the finalists list in their category. They are Mr. Malcom Spicer in the Event Planner category and Mrs. Candace Key, who was nominated in two categories, Human Resources Development and Sustainable Tourism. The list of their contribution to Abaco tourism is impressive, with both of them achieving international recognition.
A couple, who opened some of Abaco’s early hotels and worked to preserve kerosene-fueled lighthouses, have been named winners of the Lifetime Achievement Award for the 15th Cacique Awards, the awards organizers announced. David and Phoebe Gale beat out 16 others to win the prestigious Clement Maynard Lifetime Achievement Award. The Abaco couple moved to the Bahamas in 1954 and later became Bahamian citizens. They started out in the tourism industry as hoteliers, but Mr. and Mrs. Gale eventually opened Island Marine, renting small boats and cottages to visitors.
The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism is now receiving nominations for their 15th Cacique Awards Ceremony which will be held on January 27, 2013. Any member of the public may cast a nomination for the general awards, the Minster of Tourism’s Hospitality Award or the Clement T. Maynard Lifetime Achievement Award. They may nominate as many persons as they wish. The same person may also be nominated for more than one award if he/she is making a contribution in more than one area.
