The original date for the Little Harbour Art Show was postponed from December 10 to Dec 17. Five artists spent the day in scenic Little Harbour and Pete’s Pub displaying their variety of crafts and art pieces.
On May 2, 2016 Eric Sands received a major surprise at his workplace. At 2pm, a crowd of family, friends, old Abaco Central High schoolmates and representatives of the Ministry of Education stunned him as they came into Abaco Groceries in Marsh Harbour.
The nineteenth Abaco Inn Art Show and Wine Tasting was held this year on March 26. The beautiful setting of the Abaco Inn, located on Elbow Cay, is always a popular spot for visitors, but even more so this day. Some of the finest artists and crafters of Abaco had their best work on display and for sale. Visitors were also treated to a tasting of several nice wines, donated by Bristol Cellars.
The 10,000 Things exhibit by local artist, Leanne Russell, was the culmination of months of work, collaboration, struggle and introspection. Hosted at Bliss Coffee House, the titular “10,000 Things” references the way lives intersect, impact each other and, ultimately, leave fragments to remember us by – “things.” Specifically for Leanne, the art expressed at the show reflected meaningful moments she shared with her late grandmother who battled with cancer.
On March 5th, Bliss Coffee House hosts their first art exhibition, featuring new work of artist and owner Leanne Russell.
What type of coast can be found on every island in The Bahamas? Often overlooked because of its common occurrence, rocky shores are an important Bahamian ecosystem. They not only serve as a barrier of protection against hurricanes and storms, but are home to an abundance of life both above and below the surface.
A Wine and Art Festival was presented by Abaco Pathfinders on May 30 from noon to 8 PM at curly tails. This was a wine tasting event with a chance to purchase fine wine by the bottle or the case while enjoying an art and craft show featuring Abaco's top artists and artisans. A silent auction was also held and light classical music provided an enjoyable background to the event.
A few years back, an Art Exhibition was held on Man O War for local artists. This year, people pressured the organizers to host it again. And, so, craft tables were set up on May 2. Locals and visitors alike explored the different talents that Man O War has to offer.
Local artist, Don Wood, suffered a bad accident at the beginning of December, 2014. The call went out to help him in the form of an Art and Craft Auction held at the Jib Room on Feb 7. Not only did members of the tight knit Abaco artist community come to show their support, but many residents from all over Abaco gladly became involved, making the event a success.
Resident artist / sculptor/ painter Don Wood, suffered a terrible fall on December 14 while painting the roof of his house in Bahama Palm Shores. He had to be airlifted to Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau in critical condition.
