ASA Softball Championship Games to Begin this Weekend

Summer Church Basketball League Holds Championship Games

The Summer Church Basketball League ended with three days of play-offs and championship games culminating in the victory of Change Ministries’ team in two age categories. They won 28 to 20 over ACH in the under 15 category and 47 to 46 over Church of God of Prophecy.

Weekend Games Lead to Playoff

It was a record attendance at the Murphy Town Ball Field on Aug. 29-30 with Grand Bahama teams – the Port Side Flyers women’s team and Control Chemical Sweepers men’s team – visiting Abaco to play against local teams. Both nights featured triple headers with men’s and women’s teams on deck.

Surprise Guest visits Basketball Church Summer League; Donates School Supplies

On July 30, young athletes gathered on the basketball court at Zion Baptist Church in Murphy Town for their regular Saturday basketball games. However, this day they had a surprise visit from the Member of Parliament for North Abaco - Renardo Curry. He arrived at the court with boxes of backpacks filled with school supplies.

The Bahamas places second in Darts Caribbean Cup

According to Malcom Spicer, president of the Bahamas Darts Federation and World Darts Federation’s Americas Region, this year’s competition was a tough one with the largest number of players ever to enter the Caribbean Cup and the Cup of the Americas. This year, people who had lived at least six months in Florida were allowed to enter the tournament, even if they were not United States Citizens, a fact that added to an already stiff competition.

The Abaco Judo Club took a team of nine fighters to Fort Lauderdale the weekend of July 27 to compete in the 2014 Jr US Judo Open achieving outstanding results as they brought home four Bronze medals and four fourth place awards.
