Bamboo Takes First Leg of Bahamas Billfish Championship: $1 Million Still Up For Grabs

The Guana Cay leg of the 2016 Bahamas Billfish Championship went off without a hitch last week, concluding with an exciting awards dinner at Sunsetters restaurant at Orchid Bay Marina where ‘Bamboo,’ owned by Bill Canida, took top honors. ‘Wave Paver’ (owned by Jr. Davis and captained by Russell Sinclair) and ‘Sandrita’ (owned by Kevin Fish and captained by Kyle Sherman) took second and third place, respectively.

Abaco Swimmers Contribute to Silver Medal CARIFTA Team

The Bahamian National Swim Team, which included three young Abaco swimmers, fell just short of gold at the 31st CARIFTA Aquatics Championships held in Martinique. That is not to say there were not stellar performances across the board as the National Team surged to a Silver medal – in no small part thanks to Abaco swimmers Miller Albury, Brayden Dam and Roman Pinder.
