Abaco Swim Club Posts Carifta Qualifying Times

Rotary Golf Tournament Successfully Mixes Fun with Fundraising

By 8:15 on the morning of Saturday, January 9, a group of Rotarians who organized the 13th Annual Golf Tournament in Treasure Cay, sat wondering if the rain would wash out the day. Jingle Jog a Fun, Festive Race

As the sun rose on a bright clear Saturday, volunteers were busy preparing for the 3rd Annual Jingle Jog. Held on December 12, 2015, the Jingle Jog is a 5k and kids one-mile fun race to help support the Man-O-War Youth Fitness (MOWY). People of all ages were out to enjoy the event, from babies watching on the sidelines to grandmothers and granddaughters crossing the finish line together.

Improvements Made to Man-O-War Ball Field

When Serena Newton from Man-O-War Cay took home two silver medals in swimming for Team Bahamas at the 2015 Special Olympics held in Los Angeles, when the Agape Christian School’s Women's Volleyball Team and the S.C. Bootle’s Men’s Volleyball Team won the 2015 Volleyball National Championships, or simply when parents take to the bleachers to watch their local team play against the rivals, sports bring us together. For these reasons, MOWY Fitness and the local community are working together to provide welcoming venues to host games for all of Abaco to enjoy.

Local Sailor Earns Championship at Bahamas Optimist National Championship

Branden Sands of Cherokee Sound won a double championship title at the 11th annual Bahamas Optimist National Championship, which was held October 16-18 in Elbow Cay. Sands took first place in the Championship Fleet Red Class and first place overall, the first Abaconian to achieve this feat in the 11 years of the race taking place.
