Gomez Chosen as FNM’s North Abaco Candidate

On July 23 the Free National Movement officially selected and ratified their candidate to run in the North Abaco by-elections. Greg Gomez was chosen and accepted to run on the party’s behalf. The by-election will be called within sixty days after the Right Honourable Hubert Ingraham officially resigns from the House of Assembly on August 31. Other names, besides Mr. Gomez, which were considered by the FNM were Perry Thomas, Jackson McIntosh and Cay Mills. Mr. Gomez was chosen after nearly ten hours of deliberation.

Upgrades Planned for Abaco’s Sporting Facilities

Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, the Hon. Dr. Daniel Johnson, visited Abaco on July 12, and began his travels on Moore's Island where he met with Coach Anthony Williams, the athletes and their parents, and the community to congratulate them on what they have accomplished. He was impressed that four athletes from Moore’s Island attended the Penn Relays and captured the small school championships.

Gomez expected to be ratified July 23

The Free National Movement’s (FNM) National Central Council will meet tonight to ratify the party’s candidate for the North Abaco by-election. Greg Gomez, an educator, is widely regarded as the favorite and is expected to get the nod.
