Anchors of S.C. Bootle Organize Food Drive

The Dynamic Dolphin Anchors (DDA) of S.C. Bootle High School spearheaded a food drive within the school last year. As part of their requirements, students from every homeroom were encouraged to tap into their creativity to design a box to display their donated food items that would assist the elderly within nearby communities.

Cherokee Students Host Seniors for Luncheon

The students and faculty of Cherokee Primary School invited the elderly, the handicapped, widows and widowers to a Thanksgiving Luncheon on Thursday, November 26. Twenty some persons showed up at noon in The W.W. Sands Community Center in the schoolyard to partake of turkey, mashed potato, stuffing with gravy, corn, cranberry jelly, buns, pumpkin rolls and chocolate cake. Everything was delicious and the special decorations set a festive mood.

The Abaco Central High School Junkanoo group, the Marlins, will travel to Nassau on December 11 to participate in the Junior Junkanoo Parade to be held the following day. Abaco Central High School is the only high school from Abaco to participate.

Gentlemen Club Recruits Students

A Gentlemen Club was created at Abaco Central High School at the beginning of the school year by advisors Vincent Coakley, Ishmael ”Stretch” Morley, Christopher Wright, and Reverend Charles Carey. The club exposes students to a different behavior style, such as etiquette and proper manners. The advisors are hoping to guide these young adults toward a more productive and safe lifestyle.
