The message of the cross was shared by Father Roger Madrazo with those gathered at St. Francis de Sales School’s Opening Mass on September 14. Father Roger told his audience that the triumph of the cross is still with us today, and that the cross has as much power as it did when Jesus hung upon it.

Annual Missionary Meeting held in Cherokee

Epworth Methodist Chapel held its annual Missionary Meeting and Auction on September 22 and 23 in Cherokee Sound. This is an old tradition of the church and community and it is one of the highlights of the church calendar. In the beginning, on a Saturday afternoon, in order to collect items to be auctioned off the men of the church would form a fishing party, appoint a Captain and crew and set out on an imaginary voyage.

Youth Explosion held at Zion Baptist Cathedral

The youth of Zion Baptist Cathedral were on display Friday, September 21. Beginning at 7 p.m., the evening was set aside as the Youth Explosion. The theme for the event was “An Excellent Spirit.”

After Shock program resumes in Cherokee

The CMI-After Shock program for teenagers resumed its meetings on Thursday evenings at The Old Schoolhouse in Cherokee on September 13. Headed up by Andy and Sheri Lowe of YelloW Wood, they were also joined by Dana Lowe, as their head Counselor, Chairman Saunders, Peggy Albury and Lee Pinder who helped with the cooking.

Victory Tabernacle honours three of its founding members

Three members of Victory Tabernacle Ministry were recently honoured during a service on August 19. According to Pastor Alphonso B. Lewis, senior pastor, the honourees were Deacon David Rolle, Sister Catherine Davis and Evangelist Marjorie McDonald; they were chosen for their outstanding contributions as founding members of the church. Pastor Lewis said that before the first meeting was held to establish Victory Tabernacle, Rolle, Davis and McDonald were already a part of it. Currently, there are 60 plus members at Victory Tabernacle.

Community stakeholders distribute school supplies at St. Thomas Baptist Church

On August 26, St. Thomas Baptist Church held a Youths Back to School Service in Wood Cay to distribute backpacks and school supplies to children in attendance. According to Krystel Jones, St.Thomas’ youth leader, approximately thirty five children were able to benefit from the supplies given. She added that it was an enjoyable service complimented by youth activities. During the service, Jones was joined by Roy Boles of Black Sound Marina in Green Turtle Cay, and Sgt. Wellington Williams, officer in charge of Green Turtle Cay Police Dept.

Grace Baptist Church has Newly Appointed Youth Pastor

Pastor Shawn Robbins, former youth leader of Grace Baptist Church, became the Senior Pastor of the church over a year ago and since then the youth department has not had a stable leader. He stated that they have numerous youth leaders at the church but none who could take over the Youth Ministry at the church. Therefore, that Department has been dormant until Minister Fyodor Mullings became a member of the church and expressed interest in this ministry. Once he and his wife joined the church and Pastor Robbins had a chance to speak with Pastor Mullings about his interests, Pastor Robbins had no reservations about allowing Mr. Mullings to serve.

Vacation Bible School Held at Church of Christ

“All Aboard the Kingdom Express Train” was the theme for the Vocation Bible School held at the Church of Christ in Marsh Harbour from July 23 to 27, 2012. The VBS focused on five areas: Standing Up and Being Different, Making Good Choices, Thinking about Others, Choosing the Right Friends, and Putting Jesus First.
