The Abaco Chamber of Commerce hosted a Town Hall Meeting with the Small Business Development Council’s Small Business Access Accelerator Unit on October 29.
The Business Incubator Unit is a new partnership between the Bahamas Government and the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation and has been tasked with identifying, training and funding new Small and Micro Businesses in The Bahamas to the tune of $5 million per year for the next five years.
The Access Accelerator Unit combines the resources of established business professionals as mentors and trainers along with funding for start-up or existing businesses looking to grow.
Funding comes in the form of a short-term business loan or actual ownership in the business: using a venture-capital model.
Chairman of the SBDC, Mr. Geoff Andrews, was accompanied by Executive Director Ms. Davinia Blair and Director Mr. Quincy Parker. Attendees were encouraged to contact the The Bahamas Chamber at www.thebahamaschamber.org for more details.
All in attendance were very encouraged by the new program as a vehicle to encourage new and existing entrepreneurs to grow the economy of The Bahamas. The Abaco Chamber is committed to providing the Abaco business community with the knowledge, tools, resources and support to keep the Abaco economy strong and expanding now and into the future.
