By Ken Carroll
As the summer of 2018 came to an end the students of Fox Town Primary School were ready to hit the books as they prepared for the upcoming school year. Principal Yolanda Curry welcomed the new students and told the returning students that “this is going to be a fruitful year.”
Smiling, Mrs. Smith introduced the mission team from Kirk of the Pines – located in Marsh Harbour.
Following her introduction and remarks, Pastor Ken Carroll informed the teachers and students that he has not forgotten them since he moved to Marsh Harbour. Pastor Carrol formerly resided in Fox Town for several years. He said he, along with Kirk Elder Evan Roark and Sister Divina Davis, had a bag full of goodies to distribute.
Elder Roark gave a short, but sweet, speech to all the teachers and students. He said that being there that day brought back good memories of when he was in primary school and that education is a stepping stone to greater things. He reiterated that it is important to respect their teachers.
Following was the presentation and distribution of school backpacks and supplies. The students were treated to lunch by Pastor Daniel Curry – Senior Pastor of Zion Baptist Church in Fox Town.
Sister Davis told the faculty and students that distributing the back packs was a form of worship and that Senior Pastor Gabe Swing of Kirk of the Pines strongly believes in expressing love by giving to those in need. She asked the students to refrain from bullying but to instead show love for one another.
Bringing the thank you address was the new head boy, P’Jay Mills, who, sharply dressed in his blue and white uniform, thanked Kirk of The Pines for the supplies and also thanked Pastor Daniel Curry – Senior Pastor of Zion Baptist Church Fox Town for the wonderful lunch they ate.
