Staff members and students of St. Francis de Sales Catholic School collected numerous supplies to donate to the Department of Social Services on behalf of the fire victims in the Mudd.

SFDS Students Assist Mudd Fire Victims

Sunday, January 28, 2018 is a day the residents of The Mudd, Abaco will not soon forget as many of their lives were completely turned upside down when a fire destroyed some 55 homes in that Haitian community.

St. Francis de Sales Catholic School were among those to render assistance immediately upon learning of the tragic news. Spearheaded by the Interact Club of St. Francis de Sales, a Food and Clothing Drive was organized.

The Interact Club was able to collect 28 boxes of assorted goods inclusive of used clothing, kitchen supplies, school supplies, emergency supplies and food items. Abaco Groceries, Hope Town Hideaways and J. S. Johnson Insurance Co. Ltd. were kind enough to sponsor the school’s feeding program, which was conducted in February.

The Department of Social Services also received their donations of portable electric stoves, beddings and other emergency supplies.
