M3P Program Mentors Young Men at Patrick J. Bethel High School

By Jerome Hill

On March 14, the Marsh Harbour Royal Bahamas Police Force’s Chief Supt. Kevin Mortimer, along with Assistant Superintendent Ann Neely, police liaison for schools on Abaco, and Inspector Mario Murphy visited Patrick J. Bethel High School for an awesome presentation to the Mentoring  Male Marlins Program (M3P).

Inspector Murphy spoke about obtaining goals, and Supt. Mortimer shared his experience regarding a game-changing teacher who encouraged him to “get it together” while he was in the eleventh grade.

The sessions ended with Supt. Mortimer challenging every young man to better themselves. M3P is founded and operated by Pastor Jerome Hill and Evangelist Floyd Johnson.

Pastor Hill and Evangelist Johnson meet with young men between the ages of 13 to 19 years old every Wednesday between 1:20 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. at the high school to encourage them and share life skills with them.

The meetings are held during the students’ lunch hour to avoid interfering with their academic schedules, and to accommodate the schedules of the school’s teachers, counselors and principal.

The leaders of M3P are in search of community partners who will allow some of the young men to work with them during the summer months. More specifically, they are humbly requesting that the communities around Abaco assist them with summer employment and mentoring for these young men.

As he continues to make positive contributions to the Abaco community, Pastor Hill and his wife, Minister Margarita Hill, have teamed up to introduce a radio show called Can We Talk About It? on Change Ministries International’s Shout 93.9 FM through Total Impact Productions (TIP) since last month.

Interested viewers, can visit the Shout 93.9 FM Facebook page to review past shows by clicking on the video links found there.  The Can We Talk About It? radio show airs every Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., or viewers can tune into Shout 93.9 FM via their Facebook page to listen in.
