Bulldogs, Diamond Dollz Dominant in June Games

On June 16, the Divine Construction Sharks took on the Nagico Insurance Sluggers at the Murphy Town Ball Field. Sharks player Troy Bullard went 3-for-4 with six runs batted in (RBIs). The winning pitcher was Jason Scott who delivered eight strikeouts, four runs, and six hits.

In the end, the Sharks defeated the Sluggers: 14 to 4.

The second game took place between the 5 Star Ag & Turf Bulldogs and Latema Boys Constructionairs. The Bulldogs shut down the Constructionairs: 8 to 1. Short Stop Brandon Weatherford went 3-for-4. Winning Pitcher Lyle “Big Boy” Sawyer served up 14 strikeouts with one run and two hits. The losing pitcher was Tyler “Josey Wales” Russell.

On Saturday night (June 17), the Constructionairs beat the Sluggers: 14 to 6. Joshua Rolle of the Constructionairs had a perfect 4-for-4 night, with one home run and seven RBIs. Rolle was the winning pitcher with 10 strikeouts.

The Bulldogs faced the Sharks in the final game of the night. The Bulldogs scored nine runs to the Sharks’ one run. First baseman William “Lefty” Weatherford went 2-for-3 with four RBIs. The winning pitcher was Lyle “Big Boy” Sawyer with 12 strikeouts, one run and one hit.

The following weekend saw the Diamond Dollz playing against the Lady Strikers. The Dollz beat the Strikers: 15 to 3. Third baseman Monique “Hazel” Smith went 3-for-4 with one home run and seven RBIs. Kavantia Reckley was the winning pitcher with three runs, four hits and eight strikeouts.

In the second game of the night, the Bulldogs and Sluggers went head to head in the men’s game. It was a close game in the earlier innings, but the Bulldogs pulled away to score 10 runs while the Sluggers settled for two runs.  Right Fielder Jerrod Douglas went 3-for-3 with four RBIs. The winning pitcher was Lyle “Big Boy” Sawyer with two runs, six hits and 14 strikeouts.

The following night, it was the Diamond Dollz versus the Strikers again in the first game. In a repeat performance, the Dollz handed another loss to the Strikers beating them – 19 to 9. Anquanique Huyler and Geneva Thomas both clinched a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and seven RBIs. Geneva Thomas was the winning pitcher.

The next game was between the Sharks and the Constructionairs. The Sharks emerged as the winner with 13 runs; the Constructionairs scored nine runs. HB Andrew Pinder went 3-for-4 with 22b, one home run and six RBIs. The winning pitcher was Jason Scott with eight hits and eight strikeouts.This weekend the 5th Annual Abaco Fast-Pitch Tournament will be held from June 29 to July 1 at the Murphy Town Ball Field. The schedule is as follows: the Diamond Dollz vs. Lady Destroyers and 5 Star Ag and Turf Bulldogs on June 29 beginning at 8 p.m.; and the New Providence Softball Association (NPSA) All Stars vs. Sharks, Lady Destroyers vs. Lady Strikers, and Constructionairs vs. NPSA All Stars on June 30 beginning at 8 p.m.

Games begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 1. All are welcome to attend.
