The Rotary Club of Abaco celebrated forty five years of service to the community on August 22, 2016. Around seventy people (current and former Rotarians and their friends and family) gathered at the Angler’s Restaurant at Abaco Beach Resort for an evening of comradery and to share a meal. Raffle and door prizes were gifted to the audience and Rotarians reminisced on the hundreds of service projects the Club has performed throughout its forty five year history.
This year also marks the Centennial for the Rotary Foundation.
Barry Rassin, a highly decorated Bahamian Rotarian, was the special guest speaker. He addressed the audience about the importance of Rotary, not just its push to eradicate polio but also its importance within communities.
The Rotary Club of Abaco’s first president was Lindsay Scott in 1971. Valerie Dean is the most current president.
