Abaco Chamber President, Vado Bootle, addressed the quarterly Heads of Department meeting on July 29, 2016, that was chaired by Administrator Charles Moss. After his introduction, Mr. Bootle explained the Chamber’s desire to assist government departments in making their contacts with the public an easier, more business-like encounter.
Examples were given where departments could be more consumer-friendly with the public asking questions or submitting documents for processing. Among the suggestions was that a sheet be prepared detailing what is required for various applications so the person knows exactly what must be taken to the government office for processing.
This outreach to department heads is part of the Chamber’s effort to help the business community through government’s burdensome requirements on licensing issues, VAT compliance and other issues the businesses encounter when dealing with government agencies.
Following Mr. Bootle’s presentation, a few of the government persons gave a frank view of the issues they face in carrying out their mandate. It was an interesting round-table discussion between government officials and a representative of the business community.
