Members of United States religious groups often visit Abaco to participate in religious teachings and Bible study, as well as helping to oversee camps for children. One such group, from a non-denominational Church of Christ from Corpus Christi, Texas, visited Abaco July 11-14 to help run a camp for children ages 3 to 14.

The camp, Vacation Bible School, was organized by the local pastor of South Abaco Church of Christ, Pastor Jason Quashie. Vacation Bible School was held at the Spring City Community Center from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30.

The number of children attending the free camp varied daily between 40 to 60 children, according to Pastor Quashie.

Devotions were part of the daily routine as adults and children gathered. The participants were then divided into four stations according to their age. Camp activities included puppet shows, arts and crafts, stories, games, as well as Bible study for the teenagers.

The camp culminated with an evening of community service, during which the group walked through the streets of Spring City picking up trash along the sides of the roads.

The eleven visitors from Corpus Christi left for home on July 15.
