Summer Fest at Coco’s Beach Bar and Sea Grill in Treasure Cay was held for the first time last year. The event was such a success they decided to offer it again this year, according to General Manager, Stephen Kappeler.

The 2016 Summer Fest kicked off on Saturday, July 16, one of the last busy weekends of the season. The event, which started at 2 p.m., included a series of activities, aimed at entertaining home owners, boaters, renters and locals.

Music was the common element of the festivities, with several DJs playing records and the band New Entry performing a wide variety of music, conducive to dancing on the beach or just listening sitting on the deck, sipping a cool drink. Onlookers were welcome to take the microphone and sing along with the band.

The bulk of the crowd did not arrive until late afternoon, once the temperature had cooled down as the sun fell behind the palm trees. On the beach behind the volleyball net, logs were assembled in a tepee shape, ready to be consumed by the bonfire after dark.

While this year’s Summer Fest might not have been quite as busy as last year’s, as Kappeler mentioned that 250 dinners were served last year, many diners and people at the bar stayed out until late to enjoy the bonfire and the local Junkanoo group’s rush.

The resort will celebrate the re-opening of crawfish season on August 1 and special dishes will be offered the following week.
