The Hope Town Lighthouse is undergoing extensive repairs, carried out by Bahamians trained to do the specialized work (above) with oversight from the Elbow Reef Lighthouse Society (ERLS). The expensive diamond glass is currently being replaced – it is meticulous work made more strenuous by the dizzying height. ERLS carried out repairs in 2013 as well including new guttering and piping. Donations pay for the work.
