This year’s Cheeseburger in Paradise Party, hosted by the Green Turtle Cay Community, was held Friday, July 1, on Fiddle Cay. The proceeds from the event, totaling $20,000, were presented on July 21 to Amy Roberts Primary School and the Green Turtle Cay Fire Department.

According to organizers, over 1,000 people attended the party, attracted by the free food and drinks that were served by volunteers. The party-goers came not only from other parts of Abaco, but from other Bahamian islands, as well as the United States.

Funds raised by the event were provided by the many sponsors who supported the party with monetary donations or items for sale. Among them were John Watlings Distillery, Bahama Boat Works, Trelina, The Green Turtle Club, Sunset Marine, Nicks Creative Marina, Cheney Brothers, CAVU House, Pelican Coolers, Waterfront Properties, Brendal’s Dive Center, D&P Rentals, Sands Beer, and Casamigos Tequila, just to mention a few.

Receiving the check on behalf of the Green Turtle Cay Fire Department was Fire Chief Thomas Sawyer, accompanied by Green Turtle Cay Committee Chairman Matthew Lowe and Julie Farrington.

Principal Sarah Roberts and teachers Leslie Sawyer and Jan Russell represented Amy Roberts Primary School.
