Nothing’s Changed

Letters to the Editor

Recent continuous power outages take much of the enjoyment of our Bahamas home out of the picture. We’ve been coming here for over 20 years.

The good news is little has changed. Where BEC is concerned, that’s the bad news.

After years of anticipating improvement when the new, expensive power plant would be on line there is nothing but disappointment.

Perhaps the problem lies in the management of the assets of BEC. If the head person in the Abacos is incapable of getting reliable power delivered to its customers then that person should step aside or be replaced with someone who has the technical and managerial skill to get things done. Perhaps it’s the whole management team in the Abacos who need to find other employment.

Good management is problem solving.  In 20 years we have not seen the problem even get better…as I write this our power is out 8:10am Monday, June 13

I am an expatriate homeowner in Treasure Cay that reads your newspaper during the times spent here. I enjoy your incisive and spirited editorials on all things political and socio-economic in The Bahamas, and particularly Abaco. John Cash is a friend of some 25 years and suggested I contact you.
