A spay/ Neuter Clinic sponsored by the Royal Potcake Rescue located in Atlanta, GA, was held on Green Turtle Cay April 23-24.

Twenty cats and one dog were operated by Dr. Derrick Bailey and Chamara Parotti. The veterinarians stayed overnight on the cay, the guests of Mr. & Mrs. Brian Sawyer who had also made their kitchen a makeshift clinic for the veterinarian team.

Nancy and Judy Marshall with the Royal Potcake Rescue were present as well as visitors from Baltimore, Roni Henningsen and Kurt Reed.

The event went very well, commented Ms. Parotti.

“We did not operate on more animals because we found out that many of the cats brought in had already been spayed or neutered, most likely during the clinic that was held the previous year.”

The stray cats brought in were kept overnight and released the following day in the same area where they had been caught. The pets brought by their owners were collected at the end of the day.

Dr. Bailey was assisted by a young man, Christian McIntosh, whose intention is to become a veterinarian on day. Dr. Bailey acted as a professor, explaining each procedure involved in detail.
