Choice Hotels International’s Ascend Collection of independent properties has added the 25-room Hope Town Harbour Lodge in Abaco to its portfolio.

The colonial-style lodge on Elbow Cay is accessible only by boat.

Accommodations are in individual cottages and cabanas as well as the separate three-bedroom Butterfly House.

The Ascend Collection has Caribbean properties in Aruba, Curacao, Puerto Rico and St. Maarten and seeks to add hidden treasures with a native flavor and is a reflection of its local community.

Choice Hotels International is one of the largest and most successful lodging companies in the world. Choice currently franchises more than 6,300 hotels, representing more than 500,000 rooms, in more than 35 countries and territories.

Timothy had his first venture into Journalism just months after graduating from Queen’s College in Nassau taking his first job with The Tribune in 1991 leaving in 1992 for other pursuits.

During his time in Nassau he diversified his experiences working as a warehouse manager, locksmith and computer technician before returning to Abaco, a place he has always considered home, in 1999.
