A 34-year veteran of the Department of Social Services, Charlamae Fernander has served as the officer in charge of the Abaco District since 1997, and as an Assistant Director of Social Services.

A Farewell Extravaganza was held for Fernander on April 9 at the Bahamas Government Complex in celebration of her accomplishments as she prepares to relocate to New Providence.

Many of her staff members and colleagues were in attendance, and gave heartfelt tributes and gifts on her behalf. Remarks included those of Administrator Lavon Harris-Smith; Administrator Charles Moss; Member of Parliament for North Abaco Renardo Curry; Ettamae Jones; and Social Services Deputy Director Lillian Quant-Forbes.
