Man O War Luau 2016

A record number of people attended the 3rd Annual Man-O-War Cay Luau March 19th, 2016 at the Man-O-War Marina. Over 200 boaters, locals, and tourists came from all over Abaco to participate in the fun. Kids ran around with painted faces, won prizes in hula hoop games, competed in grass skirt and limbo contests, enjoyed snow cones, and played in the photo booth.

Parents and volunteers worked hard to organize the event. Coconut trees were decorated with bougainvillea flowers; picnic tables were covered with tie dyed tablecloths topped with pineapples and painted coconuts. The decor was perfect for a Luau and the food served was some of the best in The Bahamas. There was an onsite Pig Roast and BBQ Chicken accompanied by local favorites and a Hawaiian flare.

The Luau is not just a Hawaiian themed island party, it is a celebration of the progress that has been made and a pledge to continue what has been started. The Silent Auction was filled with artwork, antique marine lights, and a lake condo in Germany. The Live Auction boasted a weekend stay at The Atlantis Resort, a Private Flight Around the Islands, and a Luxury Yacht Getaway.

All proceeds benefit MOWY Fitness, a non-profit organization with a mission to support athletics, exercise and health education in Abaco, Bahamas.

Organizers wanted to make a big shout out to all the volunteers and sponsors who helped make the Luau possible. They hope to see everyone at the 4th Annual Man-O-War Cay Luau on April 8th, 2017.
