On 21 February, 2016 at about 5:25 p.m., The Royal Bahamas Defence Force Dauntless class vessel, P-48 was returning to Coral Harbour Base from a routine patrol when a rogue wave slammed into the vessel, damaging its bridge wind screen and injuring three of the six crew members onboard.

On 21 February, 2016 at about 5:25 p.m., The Royal Bahamas Defence Force Dauntless class vessel, P-48 was returning to Coral Harbour Base from a routine patrol when a rogue wave slammed into the vessel, damaging its bridge wind screen and injuring three of the six crew members onboard.

The vessel, which at that time was in the vicinity of the Abacos, took cover at Boat Harbour in Marsh Harbour, where the three injured were flown to New Providence for medical care.  One person remains hospitalized but in stable condition. A replacement crew for p 48 has been flown to Abaco.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to the wellbeing of its members and are expecting the full recovery of all persons involved.  The Royal Bahamas Defence Force urges the boating public to exercise caution as they traverse ocean waters of The Bahamas.
