The High Banks Volunteer Fire Service of South Abaco will be hosting a Bike-A-Thon on February 14th as a fundraiser for the department and the ongoing efforts of the volunteers to maintain their firefighting facilities.
The HBVFS is encouraging all interested cyclists and sponsors to register for free to complete the ride, which begins at 9 AM in Sandy Point and will finish around noon, a total distance of 30 miles, at the High Banks Firehouse where lunch will be served at the cost of $20 per plate. Water and other refreshments will be provided. The HBVFS will be selling t-shirts for $22 which it encourages all to wear in support.
Riders can raise funds by finding a sponsor(s) to sponsor them by the mile for an amount up to their discretion. The participant with the highest dollar amount sponsored will receive a trophy while all riders will receive a certificate of participation.
Transportation for bikes and riders will leave Bahama Palm Shores 7 AM in the morning to Sandy Point.
The High Banks Volunteer Fire Service appreciates any and all support and participation, and hopes for a spirited turnout on the 14th.
