As the sun rose on a bright clear Saturday, volunteers were busy preparing for the 3rd Annual Jingle Jog. Held on December 12, 2015, the Jingle Jog is a 5k and kids one-mile fun race to help support the Man-O-War Youth Fitness (MOWY). People of all ages were out to enjoy the event, from babies watching on the sidelines to grandmothers and granddaughters crossing the finish line together.

Everyone brought the Christmas cheer coming out to the race in festive costumes. Best dressed team was won by Victoria Albury, Erica Roberts, Rhiannon Pinder, Silas Albury and Kaley Scott. Best dressed female went to Cheryl McKee, sporting a lay and floral patterns she looked like she was heading to a Luau and Jerry Tubbs was the best dressed male.

Kyle Reeves was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 27:29:59. Noah Albury was the fastest boy to complete the kids one-mile fun race with a time of 7:39:12 and the fastest girl was Kiana Hicks.

After the race there was breakfast on sale for the hungry participants and a raffle, the grand prize of which was 2 round-trip tickets on Cherokee Air, won by Carol Weatherford. With over thirty sponsors, the Jingle Jog was well supported by the community. The funds raised will be used to work on the Volleyball/ Basketball Court and Ball Field on Man-O-War and for transportation expenses for athletes that are part of MOWY Fitness.

Missed out this year? That’s ok, join everyone next year on December 10, 2016 for the 4th Annual Jingle Jog!
