The Abaco Youth Football Association (AYFA) youth football action continued on October 10 after games were cancelled the previous weekend due to the Hurricane Warning Abaco was under from Hurricane Joaquin, as Green Turtle Cay hosted Cooper’s Town and Hope Town.

In the opening game of the day the Cooper’s Town Hawks took on the Green Turtle Cay Falcons in the Junior Division in what was a hotly contested game. The Hawks looked to upset the Falcons as they had jumped to a 24 to 7 halftime lead; however the Falcons battled back scoring 25 unanswered points to snatch the game from the jaws of defeat winning 32 to 24.

In the Senior Division game, the Hope Town/Man-O-War Sharks took on the Hawks and in the end the Sharks turned in a dominant performance defeating the Hawks 39 to 7.

In the Junior Division the Hope Town Bull Sharks faced the Falcons who lead the game throughout and managed to outlast a strong push by the Bull Sharks in the end winning 39 to 24.

In the first Peewee Division game the Bull Sharks played the Falcons. The Falcons put together an impressive performance that was too much for the Bull Sharks to overcome, winning 40 to 19.

In the final Junior Division game of the day the Bull Sharks faced off against the Hawks in a tight game where the Hawks held a slim one touchdown lead over the Bull Sharks until a late touchdown sealed the win for them, 24 to 12.

Flag football action will continue this weekend, October 17, at the field at New Vision Ministries beginning at 10am with the Man-O-War Makos and Tigers visiting the Marsh Harbour WildHawgs. The following weekend, October 24, the WildHawgs and Tigers will face the Cooper’s Town Hawks at the ballfield in Cooper’s Town.
