The 2015 National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) National Championships were held between June 26 and July 3 this year in Huntington Beach, California. The NSSA is the highest profile amateur competitive surfing association in the United States. This year, local surfer Tim Albury of Elbow Cay flew out to California to compete against some of the best surfers in the world.

Albury competed in the “Explorer Super Seniors” division for competitors 45 & up. Surfing against seasoned surfers from Hawaii, Florida and California, Tim Albury bested them all and earned the top spot.

Tim learned to surf from a young age off the back of Elbow Cay and can often be seen shredding it up at Garbanzos Break in White Sound. Tim is father to Jacob Albury, who has also made waves in the amateur and semi-pro surf scenes.
