Traffic Fatality in Marsh Harbour

A man on a bicycle in Abaco has been killed in a traffic accident and the suspected driver involved arrested by police.

Officers are investigating the incident that left the 49-year-old male resident of the Pigeon Pea dead. According to reports, shortly after 9pm on Friday a man travelling north on his bicycle on Don McKay Boulevard was struck by a vehicle also travelling north but which did not stop. EMS personnel were called to the scene and the victim was transported to the Marsh Harbour Clinic, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor.

Acting on information, officers later arrested a 26-year-old male resident of Central Pines, Abaco, and New Providence and recovered a silver 2000 Buick Century that is believed to be the vehicle involved in the accident. Investigations continue.


Young Man Fires Gun at Police

A young man was arraigned on the charges of attempted murder and possession of a fire arm with the intent to endanger life after he shot at police officers in the Haitian community of the Mudd.

According to reports, the 18-year-old Jeason Delhomme who resides in the Mudd, fired at officers around 2pm on Thursday, endangering their lives. The teen was arrested and police retrieved a 9mm spent cartridge at the scene.

On Monday April 27, Jeason Delhomme was arraigned before Magistrate Ancella Evans-Williams at the Magistrate Court in Marsh Harbour. He was not allowed to enter a plea, a preliminary enquiry into this matter will be held on the June 8, 2015. He was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison until then.

He was also further arraigned on a Housebreaking charge and pleaded guilty. He was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison in New Providence until Wednesday, May 27, 2015 for sentencing.
