On April 22, S.C Bootle High School held their first ever senior seminar, under the direction of the school’s Guidance Counsellor, Mrs. Carol Griffiths along with a few of the teachers at the school. This seminar was held to prepare the school’s 12th graders for life outside of school grounds and inform them on how to present themselves when looking for job opportunities.
From the very moment we took a step in and saw the office theme, we were ready to dive into the real world. I know for me this was the entrance to success, the beginning of a new chapter; and an experience of a life time.
The students that took part in this seminar were asked to attend as if they were attending a business event. This was done to give the students an idea on how life will be once they got out in the real world and how they are to dress when they attend business events.
In this seminar, the students learned effective communication skills in different areas, some specific ways on landing jobs, essential principals of life and how to budget successfully. Overall this business seminar was a complete success and every student that attended this event, walked away with an important point that is very valuable and will become a useful tool for them in the near future.
