The Bahamas National Team participated in New Providence on March 26-29 in the first men’s English Caribbean Amateur Softball Confederation (ECASC) Tournament. The tournament included national teams from Aruba, British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands.

Team Bahamas went undefeated 8-0 to capture the title with Ace Pitcher Lyle Sawyer from Abaco pitching the team to a win in the championship game. Five players from the Abaco Softball Association (ASA) league were represented on the national team. The Abaco Softball Association congratulated the five players their excellent representation of the country.

“In the near future, the ASA is looking forward to more players being represented on the Bahamas National Team,” McDonald said.

Additionally, the Abaco Softball Association will kick off its softball season in a few weeks on May 8. McDonald said plans are being made for teams from New Providence, Grand Bahama and Eleuthera to travel to Abaco to participate in a tournament in June as well as an Inter-Island play in August.

“This year looks to be an exciting year in Abaco for ladies and men’s softball teams,” he assured.

To enter a team in the league, the sponsor fee is $500 and is due on or before April 25 along with a players fee of $50 per player.
