On April 11, Great Guana Cay had an island wide clean up organized by local government representative Glenn Laing, along with a small committee including Donna Sands, Jim and Kathy Alderman, and Lisa Sylvester Fadley.
About forty people, including business owners, locals, second home owners, and some vacationers, pitched in to help clean up the island. They worked for four hours and they filled over 200 large lawn garbage bags and two 30-yard bins.
On Front Street, near the Government Dock, Donna Sands created a beautiful display by personally painting pots for plants and brightly colored conch shells.
“There really is such a small opportunity to give something back to this beautiful island we call home. I was honored to do my share,” said Lisa Sylvester Fadley.
“The island looks amazing! Thank you to everyone who helped!” said Mr. Laing, “let’s all do our part in keeping our paradise green, clean, and pristine.”
