The evening of March 5 began with a delightful rendition of “What’s the Matter with Kids Today” ironically written in 1960. As parents continue to ask the age-old question, the Forest Heights Academy Drama Club, put its own spin on it with the production of ‘Parents Don’t Understand.’

Set in the world of a teenager, the audience was treated to an evening of laughs as all too familiar scenarios played out. They ranged from bickering sisters and a sloppy room in “Sister Act”, to meeting them as grown up teens ready to graduate from high school looking towards the future in ”Beauty Rest”.

The parents seemed to be particularly entertained as they watched a father discuss the birds and the bees with his son in “The Talk” and a family found a hilarious solution to “The Road Trip”.  Mothers and daughters could not help but find the differences between the mother and daughter in “That’s What She Said” all too similar to their own experiences, as three middle schoolers waited to face the wrath of Principal Nononsense, while being taunted by the Vice Principal, Ms. Sharpetoothe.

Music accented the evening continuing with an old “Animals” (Do you remember the Animals?) song and some more familiar pieces of the past decade. The acting was, of course, #onfleek, as our kids would say, as no one plays a teenager better than a teenager! However, by the evening’s end, we all realized that parents really do understand as we were all teenagers once, which is quite enough. Directed by Leslie Kennedy and Tia Knowles, the cast was as follows:
