BASRA (Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association) held its annual Evening of Elegance on January 17 at the Abaco Inn. BASRA, and Hope Town Fire & Rescue, are non-profit, volunteer organizations that have saved many lives in Abaco over the years. One of their most recent acts of heroism included being the first responders of the recent shark bite victim off Elbow Cay.

The event featured a silent auction, cocktails and a sumptuous dinner. Burns House, with Veuve Clicquot and Hennessey, were a major sponsor of the event. Tom Hazel, Abaco Inn manager, confirmed that they have already signed up to sponsor next year as well.

New Entry Band provided the music with special guest vocals by Neil Aberle who had written a special song about BASRA for that evening.

The dinner capped off the week of events raising funds and awareness for BASRA in Abaco.
