Charles Carey Jr. was a part of history in the making this past Thanksgiving.

Carey Jr., who is a recent graduate of Wesley College, and the son of Rev. Charles Carey Sr. and Vernelle Carey, performed in the 2014 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with The Bahamas All-Star Band in New York City on Nov. 27.

The Bahamas All-Star Band was recorded as the first international band to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade within their 88-year history, and it was the band’s biggest performance to date.

In preparation for the trip, the All-Stars held a number of fundraisers to cover the $200,000 cost of travelling to New York with its members.

The Bahamas All-Star Band’s objective is to expose young Bahamian talent to the international community, and with the millions of live spectators and television viewers tuned into the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade, assuredly that goal was accomplished.
