Abaco Youth Football Association Elects New Board; Prepares for Start of Season

AYFA Schedule 2014

Elections were held on August 27, 2014 for a new board of directors for the Abaco Youth Football Association (AYFA) as the flag football league readies itself for its second season.

Elected as President of AYFA is Timothy Roberts from Marsh Harbour who will serve with Commissioner Lucas Albury, Treasurer Rich Roberts (both of Man-O-War) and Secretary Dexter Russell, also of Marsh Harbour.

Also on the board are Jamaal Curtis, who represents the referees; Jordan King, who is the coach of the newly formed Hope Town Bullsharks and will serve as Fundraising Committee Director, and Michael Sawyer from Green Turtle Cay who will be Athletic Director, who will liaison between the commissioner and the coaches to ensure the program is being consistently implemented in each community.

Kevin Pinder and Duran Lowe of Marsh Harbour will serve as the Equipment Managers ensuring official league equipment makes it to every game.

Timothy Roberts says he expects a great second season, and will work diligently to see more expansion in the years to come. “The flag football program is the means by which we seek to touch the lives of young people, helping them to learn positive life skills and lessons through team sports. Our organization cares about Abaco’s youth and believe the most important thing we can give them is our time and attention.”

The Man-O-War Cay Makos will visit the Marsh Harbour Wildhawgs on September 13 at New Vision Ministries’ field to play preseason games starting at 2pm and the season will open on September 27 in Green Turtle Cay as the Makos take on the Falcons.
