On June 26, 2014 the newly elected councilmen for the Green Turtle Cay District Council were sworn in by the administrator for the North Abaco district, Mr Neil Campbell. Voted in as chief councillor was Matthew Lowe, and Raymond Lowe was voted as the deputy chief councillor.

On June 26, 2014 the newly elected councilmen for the Green Turtle Cay District Council were sworn in by the administrator for the North Abaco district, Mr Neil Campbell. Voted in as chief councillor was Matthew Lowe, and Raymond Lowe was voted as the deputy chief councillor.

Chief Councillor Matthew Lowe said “I appreciate the confidence of those who elected me as a member of the council first of all, but I am also humbled by the position of chief councillor.”

He said, “I will seek to do my best along with the board as we will work together to do what is truly the best for our community. It is a wonderful opportunity to do something great. I would also like to thank God for allowing me to be in this position as well.”

He added that the council is there for the residents of the community and will strive to do what is right and fair.

Timothy had his first venture into Journalism just months after graduating from Queen’s College in Nassau taking his first job with The Tribune in 1991 leaving in 1992 for other pursuits.

During his time in Nassau he diversified his experiences working as a warehouse manager, locksmith and computer technician before returning to Abaco, a place he has always considered home, in 1999.

He joined the staff of The Abaconian in 2001 doing graphic design and writing an opinion article called Generally Speaking and after a brief time away, returned to The Abaconian in 2010 as a reporter, graphic designer and computer technician.
